Our future success on the world stage is integrally linked to the talent coming into our industry. To that end, we are delighted to have taken on the role as the UK’s rep for the Cannes Lions in partnership with Channel 4, Clear Channel, the Department for International Trade, Framestore and M&C Saatchi to champion creativity in UK advertising.
On 30 January, directly after our annual summit, LEAD, we ran two events at King’s Place – the first for over 200 young people aged 16-24 who are interested in pursuing a career in advertising/creative industries, and the second for around 280 under-30s working in UK advertising.
Our younger attendees heard from a panel of experts from our partners and it was heartwarming to see the enthusiasm of the delegates to enter an industry that contributes so much to the UK’s culture and economy. The young people then went on to be mentored by leaders from 20 UK advertising businesses – our thanks goes to all those who made their time available to give career advice to the next generation of advertising talent.
Later that afternoon, our under 30s heard from inspirational creative leaders including James Murphy, CEO and founder of adam&eveDDB, Grey London’s CCO Vicky Maguire and Ascential president Phil Thomas who explained the business case for creative excellence.
We have much more planned to champion UK creativity, here at home and on the world stage this summer in Cannes. If you’d like to get involved, please do get in touch with us here at the Advertising Association.
