Creativity is GREAT at Cannes Lions

Biography

Emma has been an advertising creative for nearly 20 years. First as a junior copywriter at a tiny start up agency above a curry house. Most recently as the UK Chief Creative Officer at Digitas, responsible for the agency’s overall creative output and point of view on the world.

In between the two she’s been ECD on famous brands such as British Airways, IBM and Kimberley Clark. And along the way she’s won Golds and Grand Prix at every major creative award show including Best in Show for Mobile at One Show, Grand Prix at Cannes for Direct and D&AD Yellow Pencils for Integrated campaigns.

She’s passionate about innovation, behavioural science, strategic planning and the power of the team.

What does it mean to you to be representing the UK at Cannes Lions this summer?

I want to see more Year 2 ideas.  Let me explain.  Many agencies and brands, having won a Lion, go off to develop a new idea.  There is an ‘Idea graveyard’ full of amazing, potentially world changing innovation left to wither and die.  If you truly believe in the power of your work, develop a year 2.

John is Deputy Creative Director from Manchester.

With 8 years’ advertising experience under his belt, he’s driven by the big idea and beautiful craft.

He has a beard, 2 kids, greying hair (no correlation) and 17 of the same black t-shirt.

Zack is a Creative Copywriter. An Edinburgh native with 3 years’ advertising experience, he enjoys football, tennis and writing about himself in the 3rd person.

When he was 11, former world snooker champion John Parrot told him to “p*** off’ at Kelso Races.

He deserved it.

Mike’s experience spans over 30 years. He has directed award-winning films for some of the UK’s best-loved brands (including BBC, Next and Robinsons) he’s supervised on BBC’s Walking with Dinosaurs, feature films Nanny McPhee and Your Highness. His Oscar-winning company is a world leader in multi-platform storytelling and innovation.

What does it mean to you to be representing the UK at Cannes Lions this summer?

This is my 25th consecutive year at Cannes Lions, it has evolved into a world-class hub for creatives, marketers, brands and tech platforms. It showcases thought leadership and creative effectiveness, providing a global platform for debating the big issues and future trends.
